Best Movesets
Dynamax Urshifu is actually a pretty strong option for Max Battles, It has an interesting typing that brings some unique advantages, and a fair bit of power behind it as well. However, combining Dark with Fighting also brings with it a bit of a liability, as Dynamax Urshifu's ability to tank Psychic Type damage is lessened. It's also an issue that Dark competes directly with things like Gigantamax Gengard in terms of what it does Super Effective damage to, which artificially deflates Dynamax Urshifu's real utility. But regardless, Dynamax Urshifu - Single Strike has the advantage of having a fair bit of power in both of its Max Move types and is definitely worth using... even though its Gigantamax variant is eventually going to be objectively better as a Dark Type Dynamax option.
Dynamax Roles
When compared to the Rapid Strike variant, Dynamax Single-Strike Urshifu is a bit of a mixed bag. Rapid Strike hits more types for Super Effective damage with its Max Moves, but Single-Strike has less direct competition by comparison.... but a big part of that competition is Gigantamax Gengar, which is one of the strongest Dynamax/Gigantamax attackers in the game.
All in all, Rapid Strike is probably a better option, but keep in mind that both are destined to become out-classed by their Gigantamax formes... unless you use them for Fighting damage.
This thing doesn't have THE WORST defensive stats, and can leverage its resistances for situational tanking. It also has the advantage of a 0.5 second Fast Move if you want to go the Dark route.
Urshifu has decent HP, so it's not the worst Max Spirit user. However, it's generally better off going for damage instead.
Max Move damage is paramount, with Max Spirit if you really want to go all-in. Max Guard is more limited in utility here.
Offensive
Defensive
- Sucker Punch for Max Darkness, Counter for Max Knuckle.
- Sucker Punch is better for defense, though that's not really a job that Urshifu wants.
