Keldeo has been a good Pokemon since it was given access to Sacred Sword, but what it needed to really excel was a brand new look!
In the main series, the only real difference between Keldeo's base and Resolute formes is the move Secret Sword. It automatically switches to its Resolute forme when it knows the move, and that's basically the case in Pokemon Go. As of right now there's no way to forme-change Keldeo, and only the Resolute forme learns Secret Sword, so it stays on-brand here.
So how much of a difference does this one move make? A very significant difference. With Secret Sword, Keldeo's Resolute forme outright dwarfs its base forme. There isn't really much of a competition on that front; this thing is a bit of a monster, and very much worth raising. In fact, if you manage to score a bottlecap, then this is a prime candidate to get to perfect IVs if you didn't roll well.
Offense
- If you're running Keldeo's Resolute forme, then there's only one combo to go for: Low Kick and Secret Sword. Everything else pales in comparison.
Poison Jab has significantly better parameters than Low Kick, making it the preferred Fast Attack even though it lacks STAB. It also provides Keldeo with coverage against Fairy- and Grass-type opponents.
Secret Sword is absolutely THE reason to use Keldo's Resolute forme. This move is among the best in the game, with extremely high DPE while requiring the absolute minimal amount of energy to launch. It's EXTREMELY spammy and fast, making Keldeo a massive threat to anything that doesn't resist Fighting Type damage. Aqua Jet has a higher DPE than Hydro Pump, and a very low energy cost as well, making it an ideal pairing for Secret Sword. X-Scissor is a good move overall, but its coverage tends to be less valuable than Hydro Pump's closing potential. Close Combat is a wonderful move, but is outshined by Secret Sword's absolutely outstanding performance.
