Analysis
Tinkaton really has the dirty end of the stick when it comes to PvE performance... dirty end of the hammer, maybe? Anyway; it's got a good Fairy Type moveset, but a PATHETIC Attack stat that leaves it in the dust. It also has a remarkably strong Steel Type attack in the form of its signature move, Gigaton Hammer, but its Attack is just too low to fully leverage it, and its lack of a Steel Type Fast Move leaves it unable to really capitalize on it. And even if it did, Steel is one of the most competitive metas in the game, and Tinkaton just wouldn't be able to really keep up.
Offense
- Fairy Wind and Play Rough gives Tinkaton the ability to actually do some damage.
- Fairy Wind can also pair with Gigaton Hammer* for the strongest moveset that Tinkaton is capable of leveraging by a wide margin, though Fairy/Steel weaknesses are a bit rare, and Tinkaton is still not exceptional in this role, as it's still badly outclassed by the top pure Steel or Fairy Types.
- The same can be said for Rock Smash alongside Gigaton Hammer* for Steel/Fighting weaknesses.
- Heavy Slam and Flash Cannon have no Fast Move worth pairing with, though Rock Smash can work against Ice Types.
- Bulldoze has nothing of note for Tinkaton.
Defense
- Rock Smash overshadows Fairy Wind on defense.
- Play Rough or Heavy Slam are 2-bar moves with fairly early damage windows.
- While Gigaton Hammer* is a one-bar move that's not hard to dodge, and Tinkaton's bulk isn't the best, its objectively outstanding typing means that it MAY get the chance to drop it, and it may score a KO on an unprepared opponent.
- Bulldoze can be ran to cover for Fire-type Pokemon, but it is very easily dodgeable.
- Flash Cannon falls behind.
Fairy Wind provides good neutral coverage and strong energy generation, making it the Fast Move of choice.
Tinkaton's charged attacks are fairly underwhelming. Bulldoze is its cheapest option and provides a solid Defense debuff while covering against opposing Steel- and Fire-type Pokemon, but its damage is low. Heavy Slam is slightly more expensive, but it offers STAB. Play Rough has the highest overall damage of Tinkaton's moves post-STAB, making it a decent damage dealing option.
