For the foreseeable future, Gigantamax Rillaboom will sit atop the Grass Type Dynamax meta. This is due to the fact that it has the highest Attack stat among all of the other Gigantamax starter Pokemon, and all Grass Type starters as well, meaning its Max Moves deal substantially more damage than any of the Dynamax or even Gigantamax competition. It's going to take a Grass Type using Max Overgrowth on an Attack stat of 308 or more in order to beat this thing's Max Move output.

Dynamax Roles
As covered above, this is the best Grass Type damage dealer in Max Battles, and about the only thing that currently exists in the entire series that could dethrone it would be Dynamax Kartana, which may or may not happen. Either way, invest with confidence here!
Gigantamax Rillaboom really doesn't want to take hits.
Gigantamax Rillaboom has an okay HP stat, and could potentially keep the team alive a bit longer with a hail-Mary Max Spirit before it drops?
G-Max Drum Solo. Max it.
As stated, you can invest a bit in Max Spirit for a last-second team heal if your tank drops, but it's probably better to just let Gigantamax Rillaboom play one more G-Max Drum Solo for that last bit of damage instead, though a bit of an investment in Max Spirit could occasionally come in clutch! Don't really bother with Max Guard, as you don't want any high-level Dynamax/Gigantamax bosses to notice the funny green ape wielding a drum instead of the wolf with a body that's literally a giant shield standing next to it. Still, a bit of Max Guard can be useful for solo runs, so it really depends on your plans.
Offensive
- Scratch is the way to go regardless of the situation. The fact that it has a 0.5 second duration means it quickly charges energy and allows for powerful attacks and solid defensive measures, and all moved lead to G-Max Drum Solo regardless of type. If Gigantamax Rillaboom is forced to take the spotlight and you're fortunate enough to have someone else in your team using Max Guard to redirect attacks, then it's very important to build up energy as quickly as possible.
