While Lunala used to be a bit of a weak option in raids, getting access to Shadow Claw gave it a strong niche to call its own as a Ghost Type that resists Psychic Type moves. This alone has catapulted Lunala to new levels of viability as a Ghost Type attacker with strong situational TDO. It's still WAY behind the top picks in the type in terms of DPS, and is quite literally Dawn Wings Necrozma but worse, but at least it's not as useless as it used to be!
Offense
- Shadow Claw and Shadow Claw make for Lunala's best overall moveset.
- Confusion and Psychic come together to make Lunala's best Psychic moveset.
- While not very common, using Shadow Ball over Psychic where both are Super Effective is optimal.
- Air Slash, Moon Blast, and Future Sight don't bring much to the table for Lunala.
The long awaited Shadow Claw grants Lunala the energy generation it needs to reach its powerful, but expensive Charged Attacks. Moonblast offers solid counter-coverage, especially against Dark Types, and hits very hard. Shadow Ball has high power and counter-coverage against Ghost Types.
Lunala's CP is too high for the Great League.
