Ah, Corviknight; the main means of transportation around Galar, and one of the more memorable Pokemon of the region. Despite the fact that it's basically Galar's version of Pidgey, its Steel sub-typing puts in A LOT of work... just not in Pokemon Go PvE. 164 attack is not going to make any waves, so don't bother here.
Offense
- Air Slash and Sky Attack is the way to go for Flying damage.
- Steel Wing and Iron Head* is your go-to option for Steel damage.
- Sand Attack, Air Cutter*, and Payback don't really help Corviknight out.
Defense
- Steel Wing and Sky Attack both have the best defensive pressure among Corviknight's moves, making this the way to go.
- Air Slash + Iron Head is basically the same thing, but with reversed coverage and less power.
- Air Cutter* is Sky Attack, but objectively worse on defense.
- Sand Attack and Payback both fall behind.
Sand Attack is preferable to Steel Wing or Air Slash due to its high energy generation and coverage against Fire-, Electric-, and Steel-type Pokemon, adversaries that Corviknight would otherwise greatly struggle against.
Corviknight's Charged Attacks are somewhat mediocre. The Community Day-exclusive Air Cutter is quite weak, but it has a significantly less energy cost compared to Corviknight's other options, and has a good chance to boost Corviknight's Attack. Payback is often the coverage of choice, nailing opposing Steel- and Ghost-type Pokemon, while also threatening good burst damage in general. Sky Attack is somewhat mediocre, and Air Cutter is the generally superior option. Corviknight's other Elite move, Iron Head, is underwhelming, but it provides additional coverage into Rock- and Fairy-type targets.
Corviknight is a wonderful tank, courtesy of its stellar defensive typing and amazing bulk. Veterans of the Great League may recall how Skarmory used to dominate the metagame for the same reasons prior to the steel bird's harsh nerfs, and Corviknight is now here to pick up where Skarmory left off. Corviknight's playstyle differ from Skarmory's by focusing more on neutral coverage over brute force. As such, Corviknight is less oppressive against its positive matchups, but is instead more difficult to wall. Note that Corviknight's Fast Attack pressure is very low, so it will often struggle to farm down weakened opponents. That in conjunction with its mediocre Charged Attacks can make Corviknight feel underwhelming at times.
