Lock-on provides superior Energy generation, allowing Shadow Regice to throw out Blizzard or Earthquake in a reasonable amount of time despite their high energy cost.

Regice is no Registeel. Despite its high bulk, a mono-Ice typing does it no favors, as it's weak to a number of high-profile Pokemon in the league.
