Baxcalibur, the Pseudo Legendary Pokemon from Paldea, hit Pokemon Go fairly hard. Due to its solid Attack stat and great Ice Type moveset, it dropped with instant utility as a very solid Ice Type attacker worthy of its position among its brethren like Dragonite and Garchomp. However, it really came into its own with the introduction of its Signature Move during its June 2026 Community Day; Glaive Rush. With this, Baxcalubur becomes a Kyurem Black-esque threat that mixes Dragon and Ice moves to score very high average performance against opponents weak to both. In face, it can even compete with some of the big-name Shadow Dragons despite lacking a Shadow boost itself. However, it is worth noting that this strategy doesn't work as well against things double-weak to Ice (since nothing in the game CAN be double-weak to Dragon) like Rayquaza, but it can fall back on Avalanche when that need arises.

Add to this the fact that it has an outstanding Mega Evolution to look forward to, and it becomes pretty obvious that Baxcalibur is a very good investment.

  • Ice Fang and Glaive Rush* is the ideal moveset for Baxcalibur, preying HARD on anything weak to Dragon and Ice alike.... in other words, most Dragons.
  • If you want to go the pure Dragon route for the rare opponent that's weak to Dragon but not ice, then Dragon Breath and Glaive Rush* can put in work, and is only a bit weaker than the pairing with Ice Fang.
  • Ice Fang and Avalanche is the runner up, and is primarily used when you're using Baxcalibur to counter things like Grass Types or things that are double-weak to Ice.
  • Blizzard, Icy Wind, Outrage, and Dragon Claw all fall behind.

  • Ice Fang out-paces Dragon Breath for defensive Fast Moves, even dealing more damage when the former is resisted and the latter is neutral.
  • Dragon Claw is the top pick here for how quickly it comes out in conjunction with the fact that it doesn't share a type with Ice Fang.
    • That said, Glaive Rush* is slower, but it has a lot of power behind it.
  • Icy Wind would be good, but pairing it with Ice Fang makes it easy for many Pokemon to outright wall it... though Dragon and Ice are already hard-walled by Steel Types when paired together.
  • Avalanche, Outrage, and Blizzard are all sub-par for a defensive Baxcalibur

Dragon Breath is a great move in PvP, sporting solid raw damage output post-STAB and high energy generation. Dragon Claw is a fast and strong Charged Move that can be used to rack up effective damage and bait shields, while Avalanche hits like a truck for a very reasonable energy cost.

Baxcalibur has a bit too much raw power for the Great League, especially in terms of Attack. This renders it pretty weak here.
