Mega Metagross Raid Guide
Well, this is it; with the exception of and ,this is the final Mega Evolution pre-Pokemon Legends Z-A. On top of that, it's also the ultimate Steel Type Mega Evolution, standing head-and-shoulders above the competition with its outstanding power... just a shame that it's already outclassed. With titans like , , , and even all out-damaging it, the need for Mega Metagross is a bit less than it once was. But don't let that deter you from raising one for yourself, as this is still a genuinely powerful Pokemon that also gives a Steel Type boost while on the field, making it more valuable than it may first appear. Mega Metagross is also really beefy, sporting a general TDO that's only surpassed by Zacian and Zamazenta. It may be a silver medal holder overall, but as a Mega Evolution it holds a gold medal, and it's definitely worthy of a spot on just about every team.
Okay, but how about actually taking this steel monster down? Well, that's A LITTLE tricky. As stated; Mega Metagross is pretty bulky, and quite a bit of that bulk comes from its high Defense. This means that you're generally better off running a duo on this one. A solo is possible with boosts, but it's generally not an easy fix, so the more the merrier.
Worth noting: if you don't already have a Metagross waiting in the wings to Mega Evolve, consider trying for a good , as it can also be used as a Mega outside of Max Battles. That way you can get more value for your investment!
Supreme Counters
All of the Supreme Counters on this list are easily duo-worthy by a very wide margin, and may even be solo-worthy if you've got enough damage boosts active.
Primal Groudon has the strongest average performance of any of all of the counters on this list. This is due to its fantastic average performance combined with a dual-typing that allows it to resist many of Mega Metagross' most powerful moves. Do a bit of dodging if you see Earthquake, and upheave the land against this super computer!
The ultimate ghost is here to prey on Mega Metagross' Psychic typing, and it does so extremely well. Fearing only Shadow Claw, it has fantastic average performance against pretty much everything else.

Mega Blaziken hits higher DPS than Mega Charizard Y on average, but is A BIT riskier here due to the weaknesses that its Fighting sub-typing brings, as well as the weaknesses that it does not cover.
Bring your ghostly buddy along for the ride, and it will hit very hard. However, there are also several moves that it genuinely fears.
This is one of the rare raids where Shadow Chandelure can sport its true best moveset, but it has to be very cautious around Mega Metagross when it doesn't resist its moves.
While not on a par with the above, Mega Absol generally laughs at Psychic Type movesets, which is where it REALLY shines.
Shadow Tyranitar has some moveset matchups here where it absolutely dominates defensively, and its DPS is great as well.
Good Counters
Just about everything on this list should still be very much duo-worthy, though the solo is generally out of reach.
