Cobalion Raid Guide
Cobalion is a Pokemon of middling utility; it is an okay pick in raids, and decent in the Ultra League as of this season, but it's not exactly the best. Fortunately, it's not exactly a hard raid to take down. With weaknesses to Fighting and Fire, with Ground as icing on the cake, it's not particularly hard to take down with a solid team.
Supreme Counters
The top counters for this raid tend to fall into two types; Fighting and Fire. This shouldn't be particularly surprising, as these types are massively strong, sitting near the top of the power scaling in Pokemon Go. Picking any number of Pokemon from our Supreme list will result in a fairly easy duo, and many of the Good counters can do the same.
Weakness to Fighting? Mega Lucario is here to exploit it, as always. This thing still tops the charts in terms of raw performance, and it can cause A LOT of pain for poor Cobalion when it gets going. It genuinely doesn't like facing down Low Kick or Close Combat, but the latter is easy enough to dodge at least.
While it's true that Primal Groudon has lower DPS than the above, it may actually be the top counter overall in this raid due to the fact that it lasts forever. Primal Groudon has a TITANIC TDO thanks to its natural bulk and its resistances for this raid. It also boosts Fire Types just by existing, so it has HUGE utility here.
Enjoying its shiny new Aura Sphere and the destruction that it can bring, Mega Blaziken is something of a side-grade to Mega Lucario in this raid. Its DPS is just slightly behind, but it's still very, very safely within duo range, and it also has higher average TDO due to its lack of a Fighting Type weakness. It doesn't handle Zen Headbutt as well as Mega Lucario, but on the whole it's still outstanding.
And yes; Aura Sphere out-paces Blast Burn.
While Mega Charizard Y can't quite keep up with the DPS of the Fighters above, its raw firepower combined with its Flying sub-typing with the resistances that it brinds makes it very much competitive with them.
Keldeo has great resistances and a HUGE amount of raw power behind it, making it a prime option for this raid. Seriously; Secret Sword really is that good!
Outside of the big-name Megas, Shadow Blaziken sports the highest DPS for this raid. It's a bit frail and appreciates dodging, but it can DEFINITELY do the job.
Shadow Heatran is a mixed bag here. It's not going to last a super long time against Fighting Type movesets, but it lasts an extremely long time against just about everything else.
ANGRY MONKEY BITE STRANGE METAL GOAT!
That double-resistance to Fighting Type movesets and normal resistance to Steel Type movesets goes a long way. It only fears Stone Edge, and has great overall performance.
The top non-Mega/Primal Ground Type, Shadow Groudon has a great amount of raw utility here, with solid DPS and TDO alike.
Shadow Emboar is basically Shadow Blaziken lite. It has a little bit more TDO on average, but it's hardly ever going to matter. Regardless, this is still a strong option for this raid.
Lucario covers all of the same points as Mega Lucario, but it's pretty frail and a lot weaker. till, it's very worthy of a spot!
Good Counters
The Good counters here are almost all still duo-worthy, but they are definitely slower.
