Blacephalon Raid Guide
Blacephalon has always been a good attacker... but it's very much time for it to excel. With its newly added access to its Fire Type Signature Move, Mind Blown, Blacephalon is now a good Ghost Type attacker and a top-tier Fire Type attacker, giving it exceptional utility.
So how hard is this raid? Not very. It's a very manageable duo thanks to how frail Blacephalon is in conjunction with the strength of its top counters. For this reason, it might be better to aim for some counters that focus on TDO to keep things rolling.
Supreme Counters
The top counters here are all outstanding. They can all easily manage a duo, and make a trio downright trivial.
Dawn Wings Necrozma is one of the most obvious picks when a Ghost Type weakness shows up. This thing hits like a truck, and is absurdly good for this raid... unless Blacephalon is packing Ghost Type moves, at which time Dawn Wings Necrozma really wants to do some dodging.
One of the absolute master Mega Evolutions, Mega Gengar is here to overshadow Blacephalon and take it down HARD... while being careful around opposing Dark Type moves.
As should be expected with any Water weak raids, Primal Kyogre is here to flood the world. And while it isn't quite as strong as Shadow Gengar and doesn't boost Ghost Types while on the field, it does boost Water Types even if it's not active... the one problem there is the fact that most Water Types fall short when it's not raining, so this boost is a bit less powerful in this case. Still, when it does rain, then going all-in on Water Types and leading with Primal Kyogre can definitely pay off!
Primal Groudon's position here is almost identical to Primal Kyogre; it's a monster in this raid that has a bit of a lackluster boost, as many Ground Types are a little underwhelming outside of the sun compared to the big-name Ghost and Dark Types.
Despite sporting a bit less raw DPS, Shadow Hydreigon's advantage of resisting all of Blacephalon's moves makes it a powerful option here. It hits all of the major DPS benchmarks of the top attackers above it, while staying alive for an impressive amount of time.
It can be a little hard to justify Mega Absol over the Primals and Mega Gengar. In essence it has performance similar to Mega Gengar in practice, but is more on the frail side when not facing down Ghost Type moves. It's still a great Mega Evolution, but more a silver medal holder here.
Shadow Ramparados has great DPS, and its normally low TDO is somewhat offset by the fact that Blacephalon has more Fire Type moves than Ghost Type. It's still frail, but less-so here.... on average.
Shadow Darkrai is a powerful Dark Type attacker... or rather it would be if it didn't rely on Shadow Ball as a Charged Move give it Dark Void, you cowards! Regardless, this is a strong attacker that tends to shine a bit brighter when facing down Ghost Type moves.
The top non-Mega Water Type for this raid, Shadow Kyogre has an outstanding damage profile that only gets better when paired with Primal Kyogre, and becomes a top counter when it's also raining.
Now stop me if you've heard this before; this one has high power, but it doesn't like Ghost Type moves.
Good Counters
Despite being relegated to "good", the counters on this section of the list should all be more than capable of running a duo.
