Glimmora is yet more proof that Pokemon Go has some sort of an unhealthy vendetta against Poison Type Pokemon. At this point, the way that they're treated is kinda toxic.

Glimmora was initially hoped to be the savior of the Poison Types, especially given the fact that it now has a Mega Evolution to look forward to. But, unfortunately, it didn't quite get what it wanted.... instead getting a stellar Rock Type moveset that unexpectedly put it about on a par with Shadow Tyranitar. Seriously; this thing is a GREAT Rock Type attacker, only really falling behind the big-name Shadow and Mega Pokemon of the type, even sitting relatively close to Ramparados in terms of DPS, with higher average TDO.

All kidding aside, Glimmora didn't really stand a chance at taking the Poison meta. Despite having great stats by the standards of Poison Types, it can't learn any Poison Type Fast Moves, so the best that it could do is throw rocks until it can spit up a Sludge Bomb... which it didn't get, instead opting for the inferior Sludge Wave. So, does this mean that Glimmora has no hope? Definitely not. While Pokemon Go seems to be a bit more sluggish with creating new, non-signature moves these days, Glimmora can learn a few Poison Type moves that aren't currently used in Pokemon Go, such as Venoshock. On top of that, it also has its own Poison Type Signature Move in the main series that goes by the name of Mortal Spin. This all comes together to mean that Glimmora could still become our first Poison type super-star at some point in the future, especially if it hits the moveset lottery and then gets a Shadow forme down the line.

  • Rock Throw and Meteor Beam are basically the only moves that Glimmora should be using on offense.
    • Rock Throw and Smack Down are very close, sporting nearly identical stats. However, Rock Throw has slightly higher energy generation, making it the better option of the two.
  • Dazzling Gleam, Power Gem, and Sludge Wave aren't doing Glimmora any favors.

  • As with offense, stick with Rock Throw for a Fast Move due to it being a near-clone of Smack Down with better energy generation.
  • Dazzling Gleam has outstanding coverage and great power, though it's a bit easy to dodge. Still, it's the overall best option here.
  • Power Gem leaves Glimmora easily walled by anything that resists Rock, while Meteor Beam is the same case, but far slower.
  • Sludge Wave is too slow to be really useful.
