Solgaleo Raid Guide

Dawn Wings Necrozma is a strong contender for the top pick for this raid. It's pretty close to the top of the DPS charts, to the point where it's one of the top DPS options among non-Mega Pokemon. It also has stellar TDO, meaning this thing has one of the highest average performances of any Pokemon in the game not sporting the Mega or Primal prefix.

A little astonishing to see Blacephalon up here, isn't it? Kind of blows your mind.

Kidding aside, Blacephalon is a stellar DPS-machine. This thing hits hard, and blasts out attacks at a very fast pace. Worth mentioning is the fact that Astonish slightly out-paces Incinerate here, as both are Super Effective. Despite Incinerate being a good move in PvE and Astonish being pretty lackluster, the latter's shorter damage window and higher energy gains equate to Mind Blown coming out more frequently. While in general the damage difference is pretty small in practice, it also is worth noting that Astonish also make it easier to dodge with Astonish, artificially increasing its TDO and letting it blow up its own head a few additional times.

Despite having a lower DPS than Mega Blaziken, Mega Charizard Y is generally the preferred Mega Evolution for this raid. This is because its DPS is still well above being duo-worthy, while its TDO is substantially higher. It resists all of the same moves as Mega Blaziken, but it's not weak to Psychic Fangs and it double-resists Solar Beam

Despite the points made for Mega Charizard Y over Mega Blaziken, the self-frying chicken's higher DPS can help out with getting the damage reward, and its TDO isn't too dissimilar to Mega Charizard Y when facing Iron Head and Flamethrower.

Primal Groudon has a bit less DPS than Mega Charizard Y, but it scores higher average TDO as well. Definitely a very strong option against Solgaleo!

Mega Gengar is normally the undisputed master of its raids, but this time around it falls off. This is due to its lack of relevant resistances outside of Solar Beam, and the fact that it really doesn't like facing down Zen Headbutt or Psychic Fangs. In general, its performance is Mega Blazikn but frailer, though it will pull through in foggy weather.... assuming fog even exists in most places across the globe.

Shadow Chandelure has the advantage of being able to wield its strongest possible moveset in this raid, and it hits very hard. It also has the advantage of sporting no weaknesses to anything that Solgaleo can throw at it, unlike Mega Gengar.

Shadow Heatran is another TDO-oriented option with duo-worthy DPS. It genuinely helps that it resists or double-resists everything that Solgaleo has to throw at it save Fire Spin.

Reshiram has a few movsets that it has a stellar average performance against, and a strong average performance in general.

Shadow Hydreigon has great performance, mixing high TDO with solid DPS.
