Groudon Raid Guide
Groudon is a decent Ground Type attacker unto itself, a good option for the Master League, and the key component for the monster that is Primal Groudon. These facts come together to make Groudon a really attractive investment, and a Pokemon that's genuinely worth raiding, even if doing so won't give Primal Energy right now. But just how hard is this thing to raid, exactly?
Well, the answer is that it's a bit of a mixed bag. Groudon has a lot of raw power and good coverage, but those coverage moves aren't very threatening. There's also a 50/50 chance of it getting either a strong Fast Move with good neutral coverage or one that tickles a bit, so that's another coin-flip to add to the difficulty. It's entirely possible that you'll face down a monster with threatening damage output, or a monster with an unthreatening moveset. Here's hoping it's the latter!
Supreme Counters
Nearly all of the counters on this section of the list are easily capable of running a duo, hitting at or above the 25 average DPS necessary for it.
Groudon's biggest rival is here to make a splash! Primal Kyogre can pack a punch, that is if you can dodge any Solar Beams coming your way.
Once again proving it's the best Ice type to exist in the game, White Kyurem rears its head to take down Groudon with the power of a chilly breeze. It's so dominant as an Ice type that its the only one on here!
Mega Sceptile excells when Groudon carries Solar Beam, sporting fantastic TDO as well as DPS. Even with other charged moves it can perform fantastically, just not as well as Primal Kyogre, who in turn hates to see Solar Beam come its way.
While Mega Rayquaza's DPS is a bit under being DPS-worthy unto itself, pairing it with something that exceeds duo-worthy DPS leaves you with a powerhouse Pokemon that has the huge advantage of a TREMENDOUS TDO, thanks in part to its stellar set of resistances for this raid.
The lesser of the two Kyurems for this raid, the Black variant still has the raw power to do a lot of damage with Freeze Shock and secure its place as a strong option for this raid.
The top non-Mega Water Type, Shadow Kyogre packs a real punch and preys on Groudon pretty hard.
While pretty frail, Shadow Greninja sports high DPS that can be a huge help, and can potentially have a much higher TDO than expected depending on Groudon's moveset.
Another relatively strong DPS option, Kartana does not like Fire Blast. That aside, it's still a great Pokemon.
Good Counters
The Good counters here are all trio-worthy, with some of the best also working for the duo.
