After 5 full years, Shadow Golem rises to the forefront of raids yet again. In its new Shadow Forme, this Kantonian boulder is here to reshape your team as it reveals its sheer power. And that power is... pretty good.

Definitely a top-tier Rock Type and an outstanding Ground Type, Shadow Golem hits pretty danged hard. It's overshadowed by a number of its contemporaries (pun intended), but is still very worthy of a team slot.

  • Rock Throw is Shadow Golem’s best fast move due to its Rock-type coverage.
  • Mud Slap enables Shadow Golem to fulfill a Ground-type role, and tends to out-perform Mud Shot
  • Stone Edge is on par with Rock Blast. Stone Edge performs worse only if Shadow Golem faints with a partially charged bar.
  • Earthquake is best paired with either of Shadow Golem's Ground-type fast moves.
  • Ancient Power is inferior to Shadow Golem's other Rock-type charge moves.

  • Rock Throw is better than Mud Slap. The former has much better type coverage on Shadow Golem’s Grass-type counters and Gyarados.
  • Rock Blast is superior to Stone Edge due to having more charge bars to work with. Shadow Golem may not be able to get off a Stone Edge against its best counters.
  • Ancient Power is slightly inferior to Rock Blast. It's more easily reactable, but it does more damage.
  • Earthquake is Shadow Golem’s worst defensive charge move, and Mud Shot is inferior on defense.
