Did you happen to notice that Attack stat? Yeah, Venusaur has never been a powerful damage-dealer on paper, and has always relied on Frenzy Plant as a means to boost its numbers. At the end of the day. Gigantamax Venusaur isn't the best attacker OR defender, but it's got a solid mix of both wrapped in a potentially useful dual-typing that affords it a lot of resistances to utilize. Offensively-speaking, Gigantamax Venusaur throwing out G-Max Vine Lash is on a par with another Grass Type with about 254 Attack using Max Overgrowth, so the G-Max Move DOES do a lot of lifting, and bolsters Gigantamax Venusaur a fair bit. The one job that it doesn't do super well is Max Spirit due to its relatively low HP, but throwing up a few Max Guards and then G-Max Vine Lash puts in a lot of work!

Attacker3/5

Gigantamax Venusaur may not be the king of Grass Type damage, but it's still very capable of causing some pain when it's time to unleash G-Max Vine Lash.

Defender3/5

It's not THE bulkiest thing, so it relies a bit on its typing to keep it going. Still, it's an overall strong defender that is worth a spot on the team, even if Max Guard is a bit lackluster due to its relatively low Defense stat.

Healer2/5

Low HP, but Gigantamax Venusaur needs as much defensive utility as possible for its tanking job.

Chances are, most players will focus on Gigantamax Venusaur for its tanking capabilities first, so go for Max Guard and/or Max Spirit, then lean into G-Max Vine Lash damage to give it stronger hybrid performance.

Vine Whip is the key to Gigantamax Venusaur's great power. It can quickly build up energy and allow everyone's favorite giant toad plant to act with defensive and offensive moves alike.
