Analysis
While a Pokemon with an amazing design behind it, Galarian Moltres is ironically the least valuable PvE attacker in its trio. An ATK stat that barely breaks 200 is unimpressive compared to existing attackers, and Payback is a poor move for PvE offense. As a Flying-type attacker, Kantonian Moltres is miles ahead, though Galarian Moltres is still okay in that role.
However, Galarian Moltres does have potential! In the main series, it has a Dark Type Signature Move by the name of Fiery Wrath, so it may yet rise to become something great.
Offense
- Wing Attack and Fly are Galarian Moltres' best moves for a Flying-type attacker role.
- Sucker Punch and Payback perform less optimally, but can still be decent for Dark-type damage.
- Ancient Power has no use, and Brave Bird falls behind Fly.
Sucker Punch deals significantly more damage than Wing Attack for the same energy gain, making it clearly the better choice.
Fly is Galarian Moltres's safest Charged Attack, having a moderately low cost and respectable DPE.Brave Bird is the most damaging Charged Attack available, threatening massive damage with a moderately high energy cost and applying a self-debuff. Payback can be used if more Dark-type damage is needed. Ancient Power is no longer needed when Moltres received Fly in its movepool.
Galarian Moltres actually has a decent stat product, being comparable to Nidoqueen and Obstagoon, two somewhat tanky Pokemon. Compared to another prominent Dark/Flying Pokemon, Mandibuzz, Galarian Moltres sets itself apart through Sucker Punch's consistent damage and Brave Bird's explosive potential. It can, however, struggle to get past Fighting-types as much of its damage comes from Sucker Punch.
