Flamigo is your new friend... your amigo, as it were! Do you get it? It's a Flamingo... and an Amigo! A Flamigo! ....it's a Flamigo, guys! A Flami.... never mind.

Flamigo is one of those Pokemon. The kind that's trying for the "it's just an animal" medal. For the most part, this thing is just a flamingo rendered in a cartoony style. Sure, some people say that its body is supposed to look like a boxing glove to justify its random Fighting sub-typing, but that's a bit of a stretch, as I know that I for one can only really see it when I squint really hard. And the real shame? It loses arguably loses the "just an animal" medal to Toucannon... which is objectively better than flamigo in Pokemon Go!

Alright, enough ragging on poor Flamigo. How exactly does it perform in Go? Not well. It's BARELY usable as a Flying Type and very sub-par as a Fighting Type, meaning it has no genuine niche to call its own. Honestly, the best advice we can give in regards to Flamigo is.... don't stare into those lifeless eyes for too long.

  • Wing Attack and Brave Bird is the way to go if you're determined to make Flamigo work.
  • Double Kick and Upper Hand is how you turn a flamingo into a pathetic Fighting Type attacker.
  • Aerial Ace can work as a second Charged Move along Brave Bird so that Flamigo can switch to it when low on HP and not go down with a bunch of wasted energy... but please don't unlock a second Charged Move on this thing.

  • Wing Attack goes with Upper Hand, while Double Kick goes with Aerial Ace. The latter is a bit stronger, but both are perfectly fine.
  • Brave Bird falls behind, as Flamigo likely won't get the chance to launch it.

Double Kick has objectively great performance in PvP, generating a lot of energy while still doing decent damage. Pair it with Upper Hand for a low-energy attack that can score okay damage, bait shields, and potentially debuff Defense. Finally, Brave Bird hits very hard at the cost of a huge self Defense debuff, meaning it's probably best to switch Flamigo out as soon as it uses it.... or just skip using Flamigo altogether.

Flamigo has some nice tools... but not the basic power needed to use them. Also, Flying and Fighting is a unique typing that has utility, but it doesn't have a fantastic amount of utility in the Great League.
