Dynamax Zapdos has a fair bit of raw power behind it, dropping Max Lightning strong enough to out-pace Dynamax Raikou and Dynamax Raikou alike. It's also just bulky enough to be able to consider for some tanking, especially given its great typing. It's not going to do extremely well as a tank in many of the high-tier Dynamax/Gigantamax battles, but it's a great option for select solo runs and higher difficulty Max Battles where Dynamax Zapdos has a typing advantage. Honestly, Zapdos can start the battle hiding behind another tank in order to drop Max Lightning, then take on a tank role when the main tank drops. It's not PERFECT in this, but it can definitely work!

Attacker4/5

High damage output allows Dynamax Zapdos to stand as one of the best Electric Type Dynamax attackers, frying most of the competition thanks to its high Attack stat.

Defender2/5

Zapdos is on the frail side, but its typing has a number of resistances that can be leveraged for situational tanking capabilites, backed up by Thunder Shock's 0.5 second window for fast energy generation.

Healer1/5

It breaks 200 HP, but Zapdos still doesn't do much by way of healing itself or it team.

Max Move damage is paramount to Zapdos' capabilities, while Max Guard can be useful for solo runs. That said, don't use Max Guard in high-level play, as it will redirect attacks to itself. Max Spirit is more a prestige pick-up; if you like using Dynamax Zapdos and have the resources, then it doesn't hurt. But it's also not going to generally add a whole lot of skipped.

Situational
  • Thunder Shock* is always the way to go due to its short damage window.
