Dynamax Latias is a fairly strong defensive Dynamax option. It has good bulk, access to a 0.5 second Fast Move, and a unique set of resistances that compliment Blissey and Zamazenta very well, in particular resisting the Fighting Type moves that can threaten to cut into their substantial bulk. Meanwhile, Blissey tanks Ghost Type moves that threaten Latias like a champ. On top of that, Latias can work as an offensive Dynamax option, but almost strictly for Dragon Type damage if you want to try for an all-in-one build, as Zen Headbutt is fairly slow and Charm is VERY slow. It can also work as Mega Latias in the Raid meta if you want to, though it's a bit underwhelming over there.

Attacker3/5

Latias is capable of dealing a fair bit of damage with its Max Moves, and it has the advantage of THREE different flavors: Dragon, Psychic, and Fairy. However, Fairy honestly doesn't add much utility as Dragon already covers Dragon and Psychic already covers Fighting, so Fairy realistically only covers Dark. STILL, it's there and useable for a bit of role compression!

Defender3/5

Decent bulk with an emphasis on Defense means Latias can take advantage of the flat HP buffer of Max Guard for superior defensive performance, especially when it can leverage its typing to bolster its bulk.

Healer2/5

Latias doesn't really heal that well, but it's useful as a secondary defensive option when shields are already up and the team needs a little bit of an extra push. That said, it's generally better to just drop another Max Move a lot of the time.

Max Guard should be the priority here, with Max Move investment directly behind or alongside it. Max Spirit is a nice secondary option to give Dynamax Latias that little bit of an extra push, but it's not quite as necessary here.

  • Dragon Breath is the way to go for defensive play and offensive as well, enabling Max Wyrmwind.
  • Zen Headbutt can work for Max Mindstorm, though it's a bit slow and will require Dynamax Latias to hide behind another tank to build energy efficiently.
  • Same story for Charm and Max Starfall, but it's weaker due to a lack of STAB and its coverage isn't as useful as it may seem, as discussed above.
