Dynamax Alakazam is frail as heck, going down pretty easily... but finally we have a meta where that doesn't matter, because it can just hide behind a tank! This thing packs a HUGE punch and can blast out Max Mindstorm or Max Knuckle alike... though it really can only do one job or the other due to Counter's status as an Elite move. Psychic isn't the best offensive type, but its ability to counter Fighting Typesas well as Eternatus gives Dynamax Alakazam some genuine utility. It's also worth noting that Dynamax Alakazam doesn't have a lot of competition in this role in the future, as we don't currently have any confirmation that we'll see Dynamax variants of Mythical Pokemon like Hoopa - Unbound or especially Deoxys Attack or oddities like Dawn Wings or Dusk Mane Necrozma. We also don't have any legitimately good Psychic Type Gigantamax Pokemon, so it's largely safe on that front as well. The biggest real competition in the future that seems likely would be a Dynamax Mewtwo, or Dynamax Calyrex - Shadow Rider as it sits right now.

Attacker5/5

Dynamax Alakazam has very strong and focused performance, hitting VERY hard while its frailty is mitigated by tanks. It won't have utility extremely often, but when the need arises, Dynamax Alakazam will be ready to hit like a truck.

Defender1/5

This thing is NOT designed to take a hit. If it's forced to stay on the field, your best bet is to generate energy with Psycho Cut and PRAY that the raid boss ignores you thanks to someone else using Max Guard.

Healer1/5

Great big brain, itty bitty HP.

Max Move damage is paramount here. Max Guard won't help it much and is very dangerous due to its redirecting effect, and Max Spirit won't do much of anything. Just keep launching Max Mindstorm like Dynamax Alakazam's life depends on it... because it does.

  • Psycho Cut is the way to go for Max Mindstorm, and is also the move choice for defense... but don't use Dynamax Alakazam to tank!
  • Counter* can work for Max Knuckle, but Dynamax Alakazam's weaker in this role and practically stuck with one or the other, as it's an Elite Move.
