Analysis
Ah Dachsbun.... let's be honest: this Pokemon's performance is a bit crusty. It's just not bread for combat. But is there a crumb of hope for this little bun? Well, it has a decent Fairy Type moveset to utilize, but that's the yeast of its worries; it kneads more raw Attack to not be considered a half-baked raider. And since it doesn't have a Signature Move in the main series to save it from falling flat, it's just a sad fact that Dachsbun is best utilized loafing around on the bench.
I guess that Dachsbun is just a gluten for punishment.
Offense
- Charm and Play Rough is Dachsbun's best PvE moveset, but this puppy's absolutely abysmal Attack stat makes it not worth using on offense.
Defense
- Charm has outstanding performance on defense. It out-paces Fire Fang in a vacuum, but the latter is generally better due to its stronger coverage that can keep Dachsbun from being outright walled by Steel Types.
- Bite is weak on defense.
- Body Slam is the best Charged Move option overall, with decent damage output and 3-bars.
- Play Rough is great as well, hitting very hard.
- Psychic Fangs is a weak move on defense.
Charm benefits from STAB and also has higher DPT than Bite, making it the superior choice. Fire Fang is weaker, but it can work to keep Dachsbun from being walled out by Steel Types.
Psychic Fangs is the perfect complimentary move to Charm, providing a Dachsbun with not only a cheap Charged Attack, but also Defense drops to make subsequent Charms even more oppressive. Neither Body Slam nor Play Rough are particularly amazing options. Play Rough is unlikely to get used much as its expensive energy cost does not synergize well with Charm's poor energy gains, but it can serve as a burst damage option. Body Slam is a decent cheap move, but Dachsbun would much rather click Psychic Fangs the vast majority of the time.
While Dachsbun used to have genuine utility, it's now a bit over-done.
